National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Estates Officer will be responsible for the maintenance of building structures, power plants, water and sewerage systems, waste and disposal units, and developing architectural structures. He or She will manage all Occupational Safety and Health Environment matters of the Corporation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Carry out maintenance of building structures, power plants, water and sewage systems, waste and disposal units, and developing architectural structures.
· Routinely inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to the design specifications and standards.
· Prepare bids for tenders related to civil engineering.
· Investigate and report on complaints on hazardous waste management.
· Develop, implement corporation Occupational Health and Safety policy, programmes and procedures.
· Establish best proposals for operation of Occupational Health and Safety and training.
· Increase health and Safety awareness at all levels within the Corporation.
· Keenly investigate and report on all serious/critical personal injury accidents occurring to employees of NMS.
· Ensure that Corporation’s assets are properly managed in line with the provisions of the Asset Policy and Procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should hold an Honour’s degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized University. Possession of an additional qualification in Occupational Safety Health and Environment is an added advantage.
· At least four years’ experience in Civil Engineering Works.
· Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Computer packages (Excel, MS word, Power point, and Access).
