About NUYOK Program:
Caritas Kotido Diocese is part of a consortium led by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to run a five-year Food for Peace (FFP) USAID funded program called NUYOK to build resilience to shocks, enhance livelihoods and improve food security and nutrition for vulnerable rural families in three districts of Karamoja viz: Abim, Nakapiripirit and Napak – which are home to 406,880 people living in an estimated 58,126 households. Caritas Kotido Diocese through support from CRS will implement the activities of NUYOK Programme in Abim District.
Job Summary: The Nutritionist will actively contribute to the implementation of all health and nutrition related activities. S/he will provide technical support to nutrition activities as needed, especially during nutrition trainings as required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing coaching, mentoring, training, and technical support; including monitoring and evaluation.
Contribute to the development of nutritional components for social behavior change and Mother Care Group materials.
Provide technical support to Health Facility Coordinators in monitoring Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) services into health facilities.
Represent the project and organisation on relevant forums at all levels in the NUYOK program area.
Develop work plans and reports as per reporting schedule.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and dietetics
At least three to five years relevant nutrition-related experience in a challenging environment and preferably with NGOs/ FBOs
Past experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues or participants
Excellent at written and spoken English language, relevant diplomas and short courses in project management or community development.
Prior experience in working with local government and local health services and experience in IMAM.
Desired experience with working using the care group approach.
Ability to communicate in applicable local language(s)
Possession of a valid riding permit is an added advantage.
Computer literacy skills
Good writing and reporting skills
