Pharmacist – Masaka – AIDS Healthcare Foundation

About US:
AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international not for profit NGO, with its Headquarters based in Los Angeles, California. Aids Health Care Foundation is registered in Uganda as Aids Health Care Foundation – Uganda Cares (AHF-UC) which is collaboration between the Uganda Ministry of Health and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (U.S.A) to provide free HIV/AIDS services; including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Receives deliveries including supplies/commodities and then verifies them against documentation.
· Enters data into data base or appropriate software to support tracking and accountability.
· Ensure proper and safe storage of goods and supplies.
· Regularly review prescriptions to assure accuracy and to evaluate their suitability.
· Provide information and support regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage
· Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, inventories, control records for narcotics and controlled drugs.
· Mentor and coach pharmacy technicians, Pharmacy assistance and students serving as interns.
· Guide the procurement team on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment and healthcare supplies.
· Support to all sites in the Greater Masaka region.
· Carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a reputable institution or its equivalent.
· The Pharmacist must be registered by the pharmaceutical society of Uganda or its equivalent; if trained and practicing outside the country
· At least three years’ working experience of which 2 years must be in HIV related field is required.
· Past experience in pharmaceutical warehousing is an added advantage.
· Adept at using MS office applications such as Word, Excel, and electronic logistics management systems.
· Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills of both English and Luganda.
