About UVRI-IAVI:
The UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program (the Program), founded in 2001, is a not for profit organization with offices and research facilities based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe. The Program’s main activities are conducting research, building capacity and providing advocacy for HIV/AIDS vaccine as well as molecular and epidemiological work toward HIV prevention. The Program is mainly funded by the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), USA but also receives funding from other donors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
To prepare and dispense investigational products according to the research protocol, aiming to ensure the safety of the volunteer and the viability of products at all times
To ensure that the activities of the pharmacy comply with best local and international pharmaceutical practices; especially that the safety of volunteers and the security of investigational product are upheld at all times
To dispense medicines and supplies according to UVRI- IAVI procedures, ensuring that the safety of patients and the security of medicines are upheld at all times
To manage the store of medicine and medical supplies ensuring that a full inventory is always in stock and that supplies are in good condition
To oversee the transport and storage of investigational product, ensuring that the expected quantities are delivered and are kept in good condition at all times
To ensure that cold chain is maintained for all pharmacy drugs and investigational products
To contribute towards the gaining of Approvals and Import Permits from the National Drug Authority
To supervise the pharmacy technician and other staff working in the pharmacy
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
GCP training
Participation in a clinical trial is an added advantage
