POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the HIV/AIDS Twinning Center Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting AIHA’s implementation of a biomedical engineering technician (BMET) training program in Uganda. Based in Kampala, the incumbent will be working as AIHA’s site-level program coordinator overseeing implementation of activities with our Ugandan partners. S/he will work in collaboration with other PEPFAR-funded partners, the Ministry of Health (MOH), and other national stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee on-the-ground implementation of AIHA’s BMET training program in Uganda, both in Kampala and in select districts
• Provide BMET technical assistance through trainings, mentoring, and support to local partners
• Work to build the capacity of national and district-level BMET workshops
• Coordinate trainings alongside US-based resource partners
• Work with AIHA HQ staff, U.S., and local partners to develop and maintain program work plans, making needs-based changes and updates as appropriate
• Assist partners with the development, editing, finalization, and packaging of program curricula, materials, and reports
• Maintain a close collaborative working relationship with other PEPFAR implementing partners (IPs) and stakeholders, including the MOH, private sector, associations, and regulatory and training partners
• Oversee program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities to ensure data is properly captured and reported
• Represent AIHA at U.S. Government IP meetings
• Represent AIHA at CDC quarterly review meetings to present project progress reports
• Schedule, coordinate, and participate in program trainings and meetings
• Serve as an information source on program policies, procedures, and administration guidelines
• Complete other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• BSc. in Biomedical Engineering; BSc. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a certificate in biomedical engineering; a BSc. in Laboratory Technology with a minimum of three years of experience in equipment service engineering; or a diploma in Biomedical Engineering with at least five years of relevant work experience; hands-on BMET training experience is also a prerequisite for this position
• Proven ability to implement multidimensional projects with a focus on BMET training, particularly in the context of HIV-related laboratory equipment
• Experience in program management and support procedures
• Experience with U.S. Government donor compliance and reporting
• Ability to develop and maintain close relationships with various stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively with diverse coworkers and project participants
• Self-starter with strong multi-tasking and problem solving skills
• Must be very dependable and detail-oriented
• Effective and diplomatic communicator at all levels
• Ability to train and mentor health workers of different cadres
• Personal and professional maturity and judgment
• Financial management experience
• Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines as needed
• English fluency is essential
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and the Internet
• Must be willing to travel in-country and provide on-side leadership
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and work independently and in a team environment
