About US:
The Government of The Republic of Uganda has received financing from the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI) towards the cost of the Health Systems Strengthening and immunization strengthening in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support and participate in planning, setting of targets and budgeting for UNEPI activities
Offer technical support in monitoring of EPI performance at central and district levels
Support UNEPI in vaccines forecasting and quantification, ordering, procurement and distribution
The incumbent will support EPI program in making mandatory reports like Joint Report Format, Annual Health Sector reports & Joint Appraisal Reports
Coordinate EPI advocacy, mobilization and communication efforts for the Ministry of Health as recommended by EPI review
Provide support to UNEPI in writing proposals for vaccine introductions and other sustainable immunization financing concepts
Actively participate in disease surveillance activities undertaken by the program
Participate in building capacity of health workers in knowledge and skills, developing/updating EPI standards, supervision and data management
Support the program in monitoring the implementation of routine immunization activities, national/sub-national immunization activities and introduction of new vaccines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicants for these jobs must hold a first degree in medicine. Possession of a masters’ degree in Public Health (in addition to MD) preferred
A minimum of five years’ experience in a demanding results driven environment, preferably in the public sector and/or with Ministry of Health, with increasing levels of responsibility
Strong process management skills, high level of organization and good attention to detail
Significant exposure and experience in designing and delivering of capacity building interventions for healthcare workers
Computer skills in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Exceptional communication and relationship management skills
Excellent track record working in challenging multi-stakeholder environments
Previous exposure and experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation of system activities
Previous work in immunization services delivery is an added advantage
Evidence of scientific research, publication and proposal development for funding
