Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) is a national non-profit organization that has promoted modern methods of pain and symptom control well as “whole-person” (holistic) care for patients living with Cancer and HIV/AIDS. HAU strives to uphold excellent clinical standards and provide quality education courses and advocacy activities to promote the spread of palliative care throughout Uganda and Africa.
Job Summary: The Academic Registrar provides administration and registry services to students from initial inquiry, through admission, enrolment, and examination up to awards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Administrative Support:
· Offer cordial administrative and logistical support for academic programme;
· Prepare course materials and teaching equipment for the students and lecturers;
· Provide relevant programme information, advice, counsel students and course applicants;
· Actively participate in faculty research projects, evaluation and survey activities of the academic programme;
· Plan and organize weekly academic program meetings for the relevant committees, working group and governance council;
· Edit and prepare publications such as programme reports, brochures and newsletters; Manage and reconcile academic program budgets and accounts, processing invoices, payments and reimbursements for goods and services rendered.
2. Student and Training Support:
· Organize induction for students;
· Manage the students’ registration and database;
· The incumbent will also manage the general welfare of students including preparation of accommodation and meals during residential and exams period;
· Updating students about their study progress and alumni about the events and new developments;
· In charge of the preparation of teaching and learning materials such as course modules, manuals, induction packs and logbooks;
· Participate in organizing academic workshops, seminars and conferences;
· Ensure the course curriculum are being followed and managed effectively and efficiently.
3. Training & Education:
· In charge of the preparation of articles for HAU newsletters and relevant reports for stakeholders, donors and website;
· Actively participate in setting of course work, assignments, examinations and marking the academic programme;
· Participate in training students who have enrolled on the various courses offered by HAU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should preferably hold a Master’s Degree in either Education Management, Public Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work and Administration, Social Sector Planning and Management.
· A minimum of three years’ experience in Palliative Care both clinical and education.
