Action Against Hunger (ACF) is an international humanitarian NGO. For over thirty years it has been implementing Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in Lira, Apac, Oyam, Otuke, Gulu, Kaabong, Napak, Moroto, Adjumani and Kiryandongo Districts.
Job Summary: The ACF Assistant Program Manager Nutrition will work in liaison with the Program Managers Nutrition to proactively monitor on-going Nutrition activities and oversee daily implementation of activities and their contribution toward achieving desired objectives and results.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Deputize the Project managers and always take charge of the programme in the absence of the project manager
Ensure the implementation of the project in accordance with the proposal and agreed work plan and implementation plan
The incumbent will ensure the effective management & follow up of the program and overall budget
Ensure the logistical and human resource needs of the project -Ensure the timely procurement of all resources needed for the project implementation -Ensure financial follow up of the project through proper execution of budget lines, timely cash forecast, BFU follow up
Ensure staff under supervision perform according to ACF expectation
Supervise and support staff under your management
Ensure ACF HR regulations are understood and followed
Evaluate staff under your supervision according to ACF HR needs
Works closely with HR and finance department in managing your staff
Works in consultation with District Health Office and other partners to understand the prevailing nutrition situation
Conduct trend of health and nutrition analyses of the refugee influx and give recommendations on how ACF can better position itself.
Advocate for both nutrition specific and sensitive program to be included among the priority list of refugee responds
Initiate and lead Nutrition sector meetings at settlements or district level.
Technically support the ongoing revision of the ACF-Nutrition strategy in refugee settlement in line with the local context.
Ensure a well-organized programme; encourage an integrated Nutrition approach with the other program in the refugee setting.
Actively participate in the harmonization of a Nutrition strategy with partners and the District authorities.
Actively participate in proposal writing
Organize regular meetings with District, sub-county and local officials to provide updates on ACF activities and encourage good cooperation.
Attend Nutrition Cluster/ sector meetings at the Camp and District level.
Attend donor meetings and field visits as required.
Serve as the focal person for all contractors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Degree in nutrition, health, nursing, social science or any related field
At least two years’ experience in supplementary feeding centre, especially at supervisory level
Intermediate (word processor and spreadsheet);
Team management skills and analytical capacity;
Good management, communication, organizational skills, community participation and capacity building
Working Languages: -Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Luo an added advantage
