Job Summary: The Child Protection (CP) and Child Rights Governance (CRG) Advisor takes overall responsibility for the strategic direction and coordination of Save the Children International’s work on CP and CRG and CRG policies and practices in the Uganda programme in line with Save the Children 2030 Strategic Ambition. As a senior member of Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) Department, the Senior Advisor of CP and CRG and CRG is responsible for leading and overseeing the development and delivery of high quality, innovative, cost effective programmes in CP and CRG and CRG across the full spectrum programming, resulting in immediate and lasting change for the most deprived children in Uganda.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the aforementioned job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in child rights, social sciences or related field; training and experience in child protection and Child Rights Governance including in emergencies and project planning and management techniques, is of added advantage
At least eight years of relevant technical experience including two years at senior level
Working knowledge of current regional and local debates on Child Rights Governance and child protection policies and practices
Proven skills and experience in undertaking assessments and designing/writing quality technical proposals in the sector
Significant experience in programme development, project cycle management and monitoring and evaluation related to the sector including writing up high quality project/donor reports
Proven experience of developing and managing high quality, innovative and cost-effective technical Child Rights Governance and Child Protection projects in fragile and insecure environments, preferably in Uganda and/or Regional context and with International NGOs
Demonstrated experience and skills in advocacy and building work relationships with local/national governments and influencing institutional, private and/or corporate donors
Significant experience and excellent skills in capacity building of systems, staff, partners and other actors related to Child Rights Governance and Child Protection
Past experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.
Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
Possess the ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Possess the ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
Excellent time management and planning capacity.
Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
Possess the ability to extensively travel for project monitoring and provide on-site technical support to field teams
