Lab Technologist – Kampala – Mildmay Uganda (MUg)

About Mildmay:
Mildmay Uganda (MUg) is a Faith- based local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) offering Comprehensive HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research & General Medical Services; also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.

Job Summary: The Lab Manager will offer high quality laboratory services at Mildmay Uganda, for patient care; training; research and health systems strengthening.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Offer an efficient diagnostic laboratory service in accordance with internal, national and international standards so as to produce accurate and reliable results that clinicians can depend on to make proper diagnosis so as to provide appropriate care and treatment.
Build competence of health workers and capacity of health facilities in MUg supported sites in order to improve and scale up laboratory service delivery.
Actively implement laboratory specific objectives to contribute to the development and execution of the MUg strategic plan
Actively participate in and conduct laboratory based research so as to generate information that guides program management, adds to scientific knowledge and supports research activities at Mug and affiliated institutions.
Participate in laboratory activities at MUg, its supported sites and affiliated programs so as to achieve functional teams that proficiently deliver laboratory services
Plan for laboratory activities manage laboratory resources and account for the assigned organisational funds so as to ensure efficient utilisation of resources
Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by your Supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology/Medical Laboratory Sciences and Registration with Allied Health Professional Council.
A minimum of three years’ experience in Lab work.
Additional training or experience in IS015189, GCLP implementation is desired
Ability to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of Mildmay Uganda.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency in various Microsoft office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are crucial.
Evidence of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
