Job Summary:
The Business Development Officer – D2V will coordinate the identification, registration, market entry and market development of products in liaison with the quality assurance, procurement and business development departments and the biomedical engineering directorate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify potential products for registration
Prepare documents for GMP applications and product registration
Coordinate review of dossiers for pharmaceutical product registration
Liaise with the Directorate of Technical Services to follow up and track the product registration process.
Provide the necessary technical and regulatory information and support to the marketing team.
Develop business and marketing plans for products in coordination to achieve revenue goals.
Research and identify new business opportunities for products and deliver the relevant product launches
Explain to prospective clients about the advantages of the products or services offered and follow up with them in order to close the business deals.
Respond to the client queries regarding the products in a timely fashion.
Develop business proposals for new and existing customers.
Develop creative strategies to retain the clients including interviewing them to take their feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.
Prepare the annual marketing budget and track the expenses against the budget.
Compile and submit to Management monthly performance and progress reports

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Joint Medical Store (JMS) Business Development Officer – D2V job placement must hold a Degree in Pharmacy from a recognised institution
Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda with valid certificate of registration as pharmacist in Uganda
Training in dossier review, and business development or marketing is an added advantage
Post qualification experience in registration of medical products in Uganda
Post qualification experience in product dossier review
Post qualification experience in launching new medical products in Uganda
Thorough working knowledge of pharmaceutical formulations and the related clinical applications
Very good understanding of the pharmaceutical and medical device regulatory requirements in Uganda.
Broad knowledge and understanding of the CTD format for product dossiers.
Thorough working knowledge of the NDA product registration process
Ability to compile and submit the necessary information to the NDA for product registration.
Ability to meticulously follow up the product registration process and ensure successful resolution of emerging issues.
Ability to connect and collaborate with quality assurance and marketing teams.
Ability to develop training materials on products and deliver the same to internal JMS staff and health facility staff.
Ability to communicate with and prepare informative reports for management and collaborating departments.
Strong relationship management skills like communication and negotiation skills, customer service skills, marketing, and sales skills, being confident, building a trust, the ability to connect with diverse stakeholders, and strong attention to detail skills.
Business intelligence; ability for collecting and analyzing data; knowing which market segments respond to what types of campaigns, how large the market is, competitors’ edge and general understanding market trends.
Project management; should have the ability to set goals, establish timelines, manage risk, create and stick to budgets, delegate tasks, and work with teams.
