Mengo Hospital was founded in 1897 in Kampala, and is the oldest hospital in Uganda. It currently serves as an urban community hospital that provides modern medical care. Mengo Hospital provides comprehensive care including radiology, obstetrics, dentistry, orthopedics, and surgery. Additionally, Mengo Hospital provides critical training and education to health professionals through its various programs in midwifery and nursing, health sciences, and laboratory technology. Mengo Hospital also has a dedicated research and development team that works to find new solutions to health issues in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Security Supervisor will coordinate Hospital security procedures that will ensure a safe and secure environment for the property and well-being of the hospital staff and patients while on the hospital premise

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate the Hospital’s security procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for the property and well – being of the hospital, staff and patients.
Plan and implement the job schedule and deployment of Security Guards.
Work closely with external security companies to provide additional security services to hospital as and whenever deemed necessary.
Supervise guards on duty on a 24-hour basis
Appraise work performed by the Hospital’s security guards and any others from the partner security companies engaged by the Hospital.
Prepare and submit periodic reports as required

Ensure staffing, scheduling and on-site training of security guards
Conduct investigations into fraud and other crimes committed or about to be committed on the hospital premises and recommending courses of action to management.
Work closely with relevant security organs outside the Hospital (Uganda Police Force, Security Officers from other Organizations and Informants) on matters of crime and investigation.
Ensure proper arrangements for security and patrols on the Hospital’s premises.
Attend court and provide evidence whenever called to do so.
Ensure that all Security Guards follow the laid down procedures and are courteous to customers as they enforce Hospital regulations and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Security Supervisor career opportunity should preferably hold a Diploma in any field from a reputable institution in addition to Security training
Former staff from Police, Army or recognized security companies are encouraged to apply and proof of service is required.
A Police clearance /Certificate of good conduct is a must
Ability to speak Swahili will be of a competitive advantage.
Excellent interpersonal, customer care, leadership and report writing skills.
A minimum of five years’ experience in a related field.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to identify critical issues quickly, accurately and evaluate situations effectively
Age: 35 years and above
