SolarNow is a distribution and finance company that sells high quality solar product and appliances to households and businesses in Uganda. The company started in 2011 and has since opened 36 branches throughout Uganda, employs around 250 people. Expansion into other countries is planned for 2016.
Job Summary: The Regional Sales Manager is the leader of a region and reports to the Sales Manager. The Sales Department contains a Corporate Desk and several regional sales divisions (currently 12) with several shops (currently 36 in total), both expected to expand.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Productivity levels are as per the business plan
· A client-focussed, committed, professional sales team who is able and willing to beat the sales targets;
· High client satisfaction levels;
· Supervising (now) 3 Branch Team Leaders in the design and execution of their branch monthly work plans;
· Reporting daily to the Sales Manager about sales activities in your branches;
· Ascertaining focused sales force activities by providing clear sales objectives, while receiving daily reports to be on top of the game – so no outcome is a surprise;
· Work closely with other head office desks (Marketing, Credit, Technical, etc.), sharing relevant information and implementing new projects or policies;
· Growing officers and team leaders in their careers, by training and coaching, as well as detailed activity supervision and the analysis of growth barriers;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate for the SolarNow Regional Sales Manager should have completed a BSc and MSc/MBA degree at an accredited university.
· The ideal candidate should have at least five years of successful sales management experience, preferably in a fast growing consumer retail / branch organization.
· Broad knowledge and understanding of the challenges of managing a decentralized sales force in the African context.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization;
· Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and analytical skills to make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses of complex situations;
· High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
· Resilience under pressure, flexible thinking and ability to adapt to change.
· The jobholder must be someone who cares deeply about improving lives in Africa with the ability to bring more than passion to the role: you have the grit and resilience to do this work.
· The applicant must be a good seller, and, crucially, you have a deep interest in and proven excellence if it comes to managing a sales force.
· You are a natural leader able to guide decentralized sales teams to set and achieve their targets, while working in a complex, constantly changing and resource-constrained environment.
· You love to make people around you perform better by constant training and coaching, however you lack tolerance for underperformance.
· Good problem-solver, a direct and candid communicator, excited about being hands-on without getting lost in the weeds.
