Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) is a private-not-for profit Company under Makerere University. MJAP works to build partnerships and strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other diseases of public health importance in Africa.
About Project:
MJAP will work in close collaboration with the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support to the District Biostatistician in training and mentorship of facility M&E staff
Work in liaison with district teams to ensure availability of all necessary HMIS tools at facilities
Support the district in maintenance of facility computers and accessories as well as the openMRS
Support facilities to ensure completeness of entries into the openMRS and reporting.
Support facilities to ensure timely and accurate completion and submission of HMIS reports and other required reports
Support district Biostatisticians and records officers to conduct regular data quality audits
Support the district Biostatistician and Records Officers to conduct data analyses required for regular district and facility data review meetings as well as tracking of selected indicators
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) M &E Officer should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, or its equivalent
A minimum of two years’ experience in Health Information Systems (HMIS,DHIS & OpenMRS )
Broad knowledge of common Statistical analysis and database management packages Ms Access, Ms Excel, STATA, SPSS, EPiDATA
Working knowledge of MER 2.1 PEPFAR indicators
Additional training in a medical field will be an added advantage.
Ability to monitor Data collection and data entry into management systems and write good project reports and plans.
Good IT skills (generic applications, internal communications systems, and software packages to support M&E management)
Broad knowledge of error resolution in data entry
Good mentoring and coaching skills
Broad knowledge and understanding of Local Government structures,
