Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Uganda (Baylor -Uganda) is a private not for profit NGO that provides: HIV/AIDS care, treatment and prevention services; maternal child health services; Health Professional training and Clinical Research.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The Regional Coordinator – Pediatrics HIV/AIDS will prepare annual and quarterly activity work plans, budgets and monitor the implementation of planned activities; write and submit periodic reports to the supervisor.
· Actively monitor the implementation of interventions for targeted identification of HIV exposed infants and infected children including successful linkage into care.
· The incumbent will monitor the implementation of strategies for usage of the voucher system by private health facilities targeting high yield testing points like TB clinics; nutrition and paediatric wards; and HIV exposed infants to improve HCT uptake among children and adolescents in private settings plus the linkage of those identified to treatment and support.
· The job holder will develop a system to periodically monitor the implementation of strategies for retention of HIV exposed infants and infected children into care, such as having an efficient patient tracking systems.
· The job holder will also bench mark the current status of Health Facilities in the region regarding HIV testing services for children and adolescents against expected standards; and monitor implementation of recommendations for improving functional systems for the provision of pediatric & adolescent counselling services.
· Monitor the. Integration and implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) into mentorships for pediatric & adolescent HIV services in the focus districts and continuously give feedback on pediatric & adolescent service improvement
· Build and strengthen partnerships & networks with the district, CBOs, NGOs and other influential groups to have coordinated and harmonized interventions and as well as monitor the implementation of strategies for community mobilization and advocacy for the project objectives in the region
· Actively monitor the compliance of district supported counselling staff to HR systems and policies as well as conduct supervisory HR support activities to maintain a competent & motivated “team of counsellor staff
· Develop and implement strategies geared towards strengthening advocacy and community mobilization for pediatric & adolescent HIV services.
· Develop a system to periodically monitor the implementation of strategies for increasing the uptake of adolescent HIV care package such as HIV testing services by establishing service outlets for adolescents with convenient working hours
· Develop and monitor the implementation of pediatric and adolescent capacity building plans based on clearly identified needs i.e. training, mentorship and support supervision as well as a retooling plan
· Take part in operational research through the development of abstracts and manuscripts; and disseminate the findings in peer reviewed journals and other platforms
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Program Manager Rwenzori Region.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor of Surgery (A master’s in Public health or Pediatrics and child hearth is an added advantage)
· Additional HIV/AIDS related training is also an added advantage
· A minimum of two years’ experience in managing HIV/ AIDS programs / projects
· At least a year of relevant working experience preferably in health development at a coordination level in a reputable international NGO
· Prior experience in dealing with Government and donor representatives
· High personal initiative
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Good team player
· Good problem solving skills.
· Highly persuasive and convincing
· Self-motivated
