About USAID Project:
The USAID/Uganda Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning project (Learning Contract) is the five-year organizational program support vehicle through which USAID/Uganda will pursue realizing its development objectives within the complicated and shifting Ugandan development context. The purpose of the Learning Contract is to provide monitoring, evaluation and learning support services and build capacity of USAID/Uganda to implement USAID’s Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting methodology to strengthen the implementation of USAID/Uganda’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy and enhance USAID’s organizational effectiveness.

Job Summary: The Communications Specialist will provide overall communications and graphics design support to the Learning Contract team. The incumbent will work closely with the KM/OL team on tasks related to content management, multimedia capture and production, event support, social media, and promotion and outreach, in addition to providing support on other activities as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Write and disseminate communication pieces including the Learning Contract monthly update.
· Manage internally- and externally-generated content to ensure relevance and timeliness.
· Ensure photo documentation of LC activities and incorporation into annual and quarterly reports
· Support M&E team in editing reports, evaluations and studies and representing data using visuals
· Conduct outreach and engagement activities on new products, activities, and services.
· Design and develop learning materials, toolkits, and other products targeted toward diverse audiences including USAID, implementing partners, and the Mission’s key development partners and stakeholders.
· Render support in developing and implementing creative and innovative ways to support the utilization of evaluations across stakeholders.
· Advise on communications strategy development and other activity planning as needed.
· Copy edit and proofread print, web, and other content.
· Support the development of new graphical material, and keep graphics updated over the life of the project.
· Capture and develop multimedia products where required.
· Work closely with USAID’s program and technical offices to refine targeted messages.
· Actively participate in periodic program reviews with the leadership team.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate for the USAID QED Group Communications Specialist career job must hold a degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
· A minimum of four years of progressive communications experience.
· Excellent all-around communication skills.
· Ability to work under tight deadlines.
· Knowledge of layout and graphical best practices.
· Prior experience with online communications platforms, such as MailChimp and Constant Contact.
· Ability to translate complex ideas and information for general understanding.
· Working knowledge of USAID branding, marking, and style guidelines is an added advantage
· Knowledge of and an interest in international development.
· Excellent ability in working with MS Office suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
· Excellent organizational, writing and communications skills.
· Fluency in English required, knowledge of Swahili, Luganda and/or other local languages is an advantage.
